Harvest alternative: time, invoices and the team in one

Harvest is a focused time tracker at $9 a seat a month billed yearly, often run next to a PM tool and chat. The full cost, and when Harvest alone is right.

Harvest does one job and does it well. You track time, you turn it into invoices, and you see where the hours went. Plenty of agencies have run on it for years without a complaint about the tracker itself. If you're choosing a time tracker, read how to choose time tracking software for an agency before anything else.

The reason people search for a Harvest alternative is rarely Harvest. It's that Harvest is one of three or four tools: Harvest for time, a project tool for the work, a chat tool for the team, each billed per seat, and the founder still asks each morning what everyone did.

What you'd be comparing

Harvest is time tracking with invoicing and expenses, plus reporting, and on its Enterprise plan profitability reporting and timesheet approvals.

Suprwork is one workspace for a small service business. Time tracking and invoicing are part of it, alongside projects and tickets, team chat, daily check-ins, a client portal, proposals, hiring and time off. Everyone on the team is included at one flat price.

What it costs

As listed on getharvest.com/pricing in November 2026: Teams is $9 per seat a month billed yearly ($11 monthly). Enterprise is $14 billed yearly ($17.50 monthly). The free plan is 1 seat and 2 projects.

Harvest isn't a project or chat tool, so we've shown it on its own and alongside Asana Starter ($10.99 a user a month billed yearly, as listed on asana.com in November 2026) and Slack Pro ($7.25 a user a month billed yearly, as listed on slack.com in November 2026).

Suprwork, from our pricing page: Starter $49, Basic $99, Plus $199, Max $249 a month, everyone on the team included. Plans differ on monthly AI usage and storage. We assumed Basic for 10 people and Plus for 25.

Monthly cost10 people25 people
Harvest Teams ($9/seat, yearly)$90$225
Harvest Enterprise ($14/seat, yearly)$140$350
Harvest Teams + Slack Pro$162.50$406.25
Harvest Teams + Asana Starter + Slack Pro$272.40$681.00
Suprwork (Basic for 10, Plus for 25)$99$199
Suprwork, one plan up (Plus, Max)$199$249

If Harvest is the only tool you pay for, it's cheaper than Suprwork at 10 people. The gap opens when Harvest sits in a stack: at 25 people, the three-tool setup is $8,172 a year against $2,388 for Suprwork Plus.

How time and invoicing work in Suprwork

Time lives on the ticket. Start a timer from the browser, the Mac or Windows app, or your phone, and stop it from a different device. On an iPhone, the running timer sits on the Lock Screen. You can also log hours after the fact.

Estimates meet actuals. Because time is logged against tickets with estimates, the estimate accuracy report compares them person by person and shows why tickets ran over. A standalone time tracker can tell you how many hours went in. It can't easily tell you which estimate was wrong.

Invoices from logged time. For hourly projects, ask the Operator to draft an invoice from the logged time. You see it before anything is created, then email it to the client's billing contacts with a PDF. You can also write invoices by hand, have retainers draft their own invoices when due, or have a client's sign-off on a milestone delivery draft that invoice.

Overdue reminders, written for you. Invoicing drafts reminders for overdue invoices that you send in one click, or sends them automatically if you switch that on, and you can pause them per client.

You can invoice clients in their own currency, and imported statements convert at the rate you stored for that date.

Money never moves through Suprwork. There are no card payments or bank feeds. You get paid through your own bank, and the client portal can show your payment link if you add one.

What else changes

The team reports without being asked. Check-ins collect each person's plan and what got done, typed or spoken, into one written summary of the team each day. Chat, the client portal and proposals are in the same workspace.

Where Harvest is better

Payments and accounting. Harvest's Teams plan connects to payment and accounting tools such as Stripe, QuickBooks Online and Xero. Suprwork doesn't take payments.

Timesheet approvals and profitability reporting. Harvest Enterprise has both. Suprwork has no timesheet approvals. Its Margin view ranks projects by labour margin, which overlaps with profitability reporting but isn't the same thing.

Focus. If time and invoices are all you need, Harvest is simpler and cheaper. It has years of polish on exactly that job.

A free plan. Harvest is free for one person and two projects. Suprwork has a 14-day trial, then a paid plan.

Fit with your current stack. Because it does one job, Harvest lets you keep the PM tool your team already likes.

Switching

There's no Harvest importer in Suprwork. Set up from your files reads spreadsheets and documents you already have, up to fifteen at a time, and proposes your clients, team, projects, services and rates for you to review before anything is added. Past time entries stay in Harvest, so export the reports you need before you cancel, and start fresh time logging in Suprwork.

How to decide

If Harvest is your only tool and the team reports well, keep it. If Harvest is one of three per-seat tools and you still can't see which estimate went wrong or what each person did yesterday, run one hourly project in Suprwork for two weeks: time on tickets, check-ins on, and an invoice drafted from the logged hours at the end.
